Leon

Winter Storm Leon visited us.  Nothing scary around here, thankfully!  We are all safe at home, and plan to stay that way.  It was cold yesterday, and rained lightly for hours last night, leaving the trees covered in ice.

The limbs of the pine trees are sagging from the weight.

We could hear popping once in a while through the night.  Thankfully, no major damage.  Just smallish limbs around the yard.  Our power blinked a couple different times, but never went out.

You can see a limb in the background here, and snow on the table.

The kids have had a blast exploring the yard.  They have been collecting snow and ice, and have clipped a few samples from the trees.

Icicles!!

Trevor has spent quite a bit of time searching for pretty snowflakes to take pictures of.  Sadly, not many to choose from.  He has taken lots of pictures (which he is doing here) and looked at snow under the microscope.

Zack went outside with me for a little bit, but surprisingly didn't last long.  After carrying him around the yard, we came in.  He played in the sink instead--one of his favorite activities.

Here's a left over picture from Sam's birthday--blowing out candles on the jello cake.

Hello Again....

It's Samuel's Birthday!

We started the day right: we opened presents!  He got some good spending money, a couple cool puzzles from Grandma (always a hit) and some toys and clothes from us.

Then the boys played while Zack and I did laundry.  Zack is really a good helper with the laundry.  He can pull the dry clothes out of the dryer and into the laundry basket, then empty the lint trap, then help push the wet clothes into the dryer.  Today is the first day he WENT in the dryer.  Kept him busy for about 10 minutes :)

Before lunch we headed to Acadamy sports to spend a gift card Sam got.  I was so surprised and pleased to have fun with the kids!  Zack wanted to walk, and did great staying with us.  He pulled a few things off the shelves, but did better and better at just looking as I encouraged him.  I wanted to take a candid shot of the boys all browsing in the camping aisle, but they flocked to the camera and I got the cutest picture! (top of page).  We were all still happy when we left, and Sam came home with a new nerf gun.

I've got pizza ordered from Papa John's, which Tim will pick up later, and a "new" movie to watch--a $5 Voyage of the Dawn Treader that Sam got as a gift.  It's such a blessing to have happy days.

Before I sign off:  a bit of Zack vocab...

Is is de-wiss-is?  (As I'm eating a birthday cupcake.)  And, yes, it was.  Happy Birthday to Samuel!
